HUNTERS estate agents has reported a “promising start to the year” as the York-based firm grows its branch network.

In a trade update to AIM (alternative investment market), Hunters said it has had an encouraging start to the year, in line with the Board’s expectations, despite challenging conditions in the housing market.

In the first six months to June the group opened eight new branches, one less than the same period last year, and reported progress with its acquisition fund for franchisees after completing four acquisitions since September 2017.

Hunters’ acquisition fund provides funding to franchisees that are looking to acquire additional lettings books or independent businesses.

Glynis Frew, chief executive of Hunters, said: “The results reflect a strong start to the year despite challenging market conditions. We will continue to focus on delivering a market-leading service, laying the foundations for further growth.”
