TWENTY five new jobs are being created in Selby as £17 million green construction firm relocates its head office from Leeds.

Planet Holdings has described the decision to leave the city in favour of Selby as a “natural business moved”.

The business is made up of three divisions, energy supplier Planet-U, Planet-E which specialises in electrical installations and its construction arm Planet-C.

The move from Leeds has opened up 25 new jobs in Selby in trade and construction roles under companies Planet-E and Planet-C.

Planet Holdings has an annual turnover of £17 million and has clients including the Headingley Emerald Stadium, Yorkshire Building Society and Sale Sharks.

Grant Nicholson, chief executive of Planet Holdings said: “The decision to move was easy, with great access to the A1(M) and the M62 so it was a very strategic business decision to take the office there.

“I grew up in the area so I’m really excited for this opportunity to bring new jobs to Selby.”

Mr Nicholson said the new head office, located in Selby Business Park, is at the “epicentre of surrounding economic hubs”, with close access links to Leeds, Sheffield, York and Hull.

One of the most recent projects Planet-C has undertaken is the acquisition of plots of land suitable for housing developments in the Selby area which is expected to create up to 125 affordable homes.

Mr Nicholson set up the business to help clients achieve a more energy efficient future.

Planet Holdings’ portfolio of companies focus on green energy initiatives and renewable energy solutions to reduce electrical output costs.
