A NORTH Yorkshire pork producer has completed the takeover of a 130-year-old ham specialist.
Malton-based Karro Food Group has acquired TS Bloor & Sons in a “strategic move” aimed at growing the firm’s knowledge in the pork sector.
Leicestershire-based TS Bloor & Sons cooks up to 13,000 hams a week, and recently invested £6.5 million in a new 37,000sq ft factory where its traditionally crafted hams are roasted, steamed or simmered in open water
Di Walker, executive chairwoman of Karro, pictured, said: “TS Bloor & Sons has an outstanding reputation in the market, led by managing director Charles Bloor.
“The acquisition is a highly strategic move for Karro Food Group as we look to bring TS Bloor’s skills & artisan knowledge together with the supply of our own pigs from high welfare, RSPCA assured farms.
“We welcome Charles and his dedicated team to Karro and look forward to working with them to develop the business.”
