A YORKSHIRE-based business has been appointed by the United Arab Emirates government to deliver safeguarding training in schools in Dubai.

Staff Training Company Ltd, which is based in Market Weighton, provides training courses to the education and care industries, and has also recently launched a new eLearning course for parents.

The company's training services are aimed at preventing the abuse of children and adults in the education, workplace and retail environments and managing director Andy Gibb said new bespoke packages had been developed for the gulf coast city.

Mr Gibb said: "Although safeguarding is more mainstream news now, there’s still so much more education to be done. We’re delighted to be working with the UAE government who are taking a proactive and responsible approach to safeguarding. We can’t wait to get started.

"I’ve over 30 years of experience in the adult and child care sectors, and the potential for exploitation and abuse of children and vulnerable adults continually increases. It’s quite alarming, and we’re doing what we can to educate as many people as possible."

The company is also launching a new eLearning product aimed specifically at educating parents and carers about safeguarding and related issues, and to provide practical advice on help their children stay safe. Andy and the Staff Training Company team developed their eLearning tools to help the education process go ‘beyond the school gates or training room’.

The company has also recently advised the UK Retail Consortium of bringing Safeguarding Training to some high-street stores, and has developed the UK’s first Safeguarding Insurance policy.
