A YORK based water brand which launched with a promise to support NHS charities has expanded its range with supermarket giant Tesco as it hits its first fundraising milestone.

Zero sugar drinks producer Revolution Waves, which pledged to donated 10p of every bottle sale, is now on the shelves of 42 Tesco stores across Yorkshire, including branches in York, Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford, with its latest product set to launch later this month.

In the last year the business has now raised just under £3,000 for charities including NHS York Teaching Hospital, NHS South West Yorkshire Partnership, NHS Yorkshire Ambulance Service, NHS Harrogate and District and NHS Mid Yorkshire Hospitals.

Revolution Waves, registered at York Science Park, was founded in 2015 by childhood friends Dan Norton, Charlie Simpson-Daniel and Phil Raikes who all share the same passion for sport, being ex and current international athletes.

The business partners have a plethora of sporting achievements between them with Mr Norton holding the title of England Sevens star winger and silver medallist in the Rio Olympics; Mr Simpson-Daniel was also a member of the England Sevens Squad in 2010 while Mr Raikes played international cricket as a schoolboy.

Two varieties of the firm’s flavoured British spring water (Raspberry and Cranberry) features in the food-on-the-go ‘meal deal’ section of Tesco and the Lemon & Lime flavour will launch in every Yorkshire store at the end of this month.

Marketing Director at Revolution Waves and current rugby union player for the England rugby sevens national team, Mr Norton said: “This is a great achievement for us, we set out to make a difference and contribute something towards local charities, funded by the NHS and we’re delighted to have hit this milestone.”

Tesco is reformulating all of its own brand soft drinks to contain less than 5g of sugar per 100ml. Revolution Waves’ no-sugar drinks fit with the retailer’s plan to give its customers “little helps” to healthier living.

Mark Thomas, Corporate Affairs Manager at Tesco, said: “Not only is Revolution Waves a fantastic, local product with zero sugar but the fact it is championing and supporting local charities across Yorkshire is something we’re really proud to be a part of.

“We’re very happy to be expanding their range of products in our stores and working in partnership with such a great producer.”
