THE managing director of a Ryedale-based sheet metalwork manufacturer is celebrating after graduating from the prestigious Goldman Sachs management training programme.

Charles Corner, who owns Malton Laser, graduated from the 10,000 Small Businesses Training Programme at Oxford University after being selected from hundreds of business leaders to take part in the course.

Set up with the aim of assisting businesses in reaching their full potential, the course aims to provide small business leaders with the skills and tools they need to effectively grow their businesses.

Charles said: “To be graduating from one of the most respected business training programmes in the country is something I’m really proud of. I credit taking part in the course with helping Malton Laser achieve an 18 per cent increase in growth in 2016-17.

“The skills I’ve learnt will be invaluable moving forward in helping the Malton Laser team accomplish our plans to increase turnover by a further 25 per cent in the next 12 months.

“During my participation in the course I’ve met some truly inspirational business leaders, whose knowledge and expertise – when utilised alongside the skills I developed during the course – will be incredibly useful in building my business plan for the next year and beyond.”

The focus of the Goldman Sachs programme is a high-quality, practical business and management education, delivered over 100 hours through a combination of online training sessions and in-person lectures at four universities across the UK.

Malton Laser specialises in providing a full sheet metalwork service, from laser cutting and pressing to fabricating, powder coating and assembly.
