YORK’S Derwenthorpe development has scooped another accolade at this year’s Inside Housing Development Awards.

Derwenthorpe was named ‘best affordable housing development’ at a ceremony at the Hurlingham Club in London. It is the seventh award to come Derwenthorpe’s way this year.

Built in partnership between Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) and David Wilson Homes, and designed by architects Studio Partington, Derwenthorpe, is situated within Osbaldwick on the east side of York. JRHT said the development offers affordable, eco-friendly family homes in a digitally inclusive, mixed-tenure community. Debated and decided on by a panel of experts from both the public and private sectors, the award for best affordable housing development came under the rural/suburban category for large-scale, low-carbon communities. With its fourth and final phase currently being built, Derwenthorpe is set for completion towards the end of 2018.
