PLANS are afoot for a new KFC drive-through restaurant on the outskirts of Pocklington, which would create 30 jobs for the local area.

Jennings Design has submitted a planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for the restaurant, which would be built in Broadhelm Close, on the Broadhelm Business Park, near the A1079.

It would be situated next to the Starbucks drive-through and Pocklington Services, which are owned by The Brookfield Group.

The 30 jobs would be a mixture of full-time and part-time positions.

Aziz Patel, of The Brookfield Group, the developer for the project, said it hopes to start building the KFC early in the new year if planners back the scheme.

“It would provide another global brand on the perimeter of Pocklington town,” Mr Aziz explained.

“It would create jobs and and outlet for people buy their lunch or evening meals. It’s just another option in the area.”

The application is seeking full planning permission.
