A VITAL Christmas decoration is being prepared for thousands of York homes by a successful city business.

Oliver and Kirstie Combe are York’s biggest Christmas tree growers with a record 120,000 trees on their 65 acre site.

Oliver, chairman of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA), is involved in producing various species of trees all year round with each taking around 10 years to mature.

York Christmas Trees is now open until Christmas Eve and this year will have three generations of the family involved in the operation which is backed by more than 25 years of experience.

Kirstie, who used to work as a wedding dress maker before joining the Wigginton business, also produces a range of handmade Christmas wreaths that are on sale in the large shop.

They can be found next to Christmas decorations which have been carefully sourced throughout the year.
