THE biggest annual political statement affecting Britain’s finances is to be announced today as chancellor Philip Hammond delivers the Autumn Budget.

Due to be announced in the House of Commons at around 12.30pm this afternoon, the Budget is this year entitled Building a Britain Fit for the Future.

The Press will be reporting the announcement as it happens on its website www.yorkpress.co.uk with a live blog detailing the measures being outlined from Mr Hammond.

Speaking about what his Budget is set to include,Mr Hammond said: “In this Budget, we express our resolve to look forwards, to embrace change, to meet our challenges head on, and to seize the opportunities for Britain.

“Because for the first time in decades, Britain is genuinely at the forefront of a technological revolution, not just in our universities and research institutes, but this time in the commercial development labs of our great companies and on the factory floors and business parks across the land. “So we must invest to secure a bright future for Britain, and at this Budget that is what we choose to do.”

He said he will also set out his vision for “global Britain”.
