A MASONRY firm is laying the foundations for growth as a funding packaged paves the way for rising revenues.

J Rotherham Masonry, based in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, has secured a six-figure finance deal from HSBC through its dedicated SME Fund.

The business, which dates back to 1927, is to use the funding for additional work space to house a new first-of-its-kind robotic production line as part of ambitions to grow revenues by 20 per cent.

Matt Rotherham, managing director at J Rotherham Masonry, said: “We’re proud to be one of the oldest and most highly respected stone masons in the UK.

“The support from HSBC has enabled us to continue to be at the forefront of our industry.

“Robotic production means we can be more innovative, introduce new possibilities for stone surfaces and continue to provide high quality stone surfaces to our increasing number of customers.”

The business, which has been working with HSBC for the past 30 years, specialises in traditional stone masonry, from stone fireplaces and fireplace surrounds to kitchen worktops and natural stone flooring.

After years of strong growth and rising demand for its products, the business has launched a unique robotic production line for manufacturing worktops and stone masonry, and requires additional space to house this facility.

The investment in the premises from HSBC will allow the firm to expand its manufacturing facility and means that J Rotherham expects to grow its revenue by 20 per cent over the next 12 months.

Adam Kelly, HSBC’s area director for North Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “J Rotherham Masonry is a progressive family business that enjoys a strong reputation in its sector.

“We have a long-term relationship with the business, which dates back to 1987 and we’re delighted to be helping it expand through our dedicated SME fund.

“We will continue to support the company through our Trade Facilities package to enable the business to meet strong customer demand and flourish further within its sector.”

The deal was completed by Daniel Wilson, HSBC’s corporate relationship director.

J Rotherham is one of the oldest stone masons in the UK today. The additional work space will be created at the firm’s 17-acre state of the art manufacturing facility in North Yorkshire, where it creates hand-carved architectural masonry for clients throughout the UK and around the globe.
