YORK and Leeds-based accountancy practice Garbutt + Elliott has appointed a new wealth management adviser to support its financial planning arm.

David Holdsworth joins the firm with nearly 30 years’ experience in a broad range of financial services, from advising SMEs, business owners and directors to providing financial planning for private clients whether still working or retired.

Mr Holdsworth most recently worked at 1825 Financial Planning as a consultant for private clients and SMEs, and previously completed a ten-year stint as a financial consultant for Pearson Jones.

Welcoming David to the firm, Garbutt + Elliott’s managing partner, Russell Turner, said: “When it comes to financial planning David is a genuine expert. He’s got a great track record across a wide variety of clients and was exactly the quality person we were looking for.”

YORK’S “newest” hotel has made its first key appointment.

Sonya Kelly has taken on the role of revenue manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton York – formerly the Monkbar Hotel - as it formerly opened its doors following a £3 million programme of expansion and improvements.

DoubleTree by York general manager Graham Usher said: “The role of revenue manager is one of the most important in the hotel, and Sonya brings with her more than decade’s experience in this discipline.

A HARROGATE law firm has strengthened its expertise with the senior appointment of one of Yorkshire’s leading names in conveyancing.

Milners has appointed John Robson, who lives at Spofforth, near Wetherby, as residential property manager. His hire comes as the company eyes further expansion in the spa town’s thriving legal sector. He brings 35 years of residential property experience to the Harrogate team.
