A RARE industrial building in the heart of York that won both the Residential and Building Conservation categories of the RICS Yorkshire & Humber Awards is to next month compete for the national titles.
Clementhorpe Maltings in Lower Darnborough Street had lain empty for 50 years before being purchased by Northminster Ltd and converted into six dwellings. It is a rare surviving malting house and a Grade II-listed building.
Its conservation included preserving original features, including the malt bin doors, and Victorian cast columns, accessed from the three-storey entrance atrium housing the original working machinery.
Six of Yorkshire and Humber’s award winning property schemes in other categories are also competing for the RIC Awards Grand Final.
