BRADLEY'S Jewellers of York is to be presented with a silver award by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Employer Recognition Scheme.

The family-owned business in Low Petergate was recognised for employing a reservist and offering flexible leave so he can honour training commitments.

Bradley's employee and serving reservist Kyle Alexanders said: "Having left the armed forces in September 2016, I continued my military service as a member of the Army Reserve and also undertook civilian employment with Bradley's.

"They have supported me to the degree that they provide considerable paid holiday, which enables me to undertake and complete all expected Reserve commitments and maintain a work-home life balance."

“They also recognise that the nature of Reserve service means that I am not always able to give the full notice period normally required to take holiday / leave and so have embedded this in their HR policy, reducing the requirement for Reserve personnel and partners and spouses of serving personnel.”

Also receiving awards are Harrogate Town FC and Harrogate and District NHS.
