A FORMER chef is returning to the kitchen to launch his latest business venture.

York-based Jason Lloyd, 29, started online craft snack brand Snackminster in his home kitchen in May this year and has just launched its first product, spiced mixed nuts.

With the online store now live, Mr Lloyd hopes to launch a pop up stall at the York Shambles Market, and appear at food festivals across the UK, alongside plans to develop a wholesale side of the business.

He said: “I couldn’t find any spiced nuts that I actually liked, so I started making my own.

“There are so many exciting food start-ups coming through now.

“British consumers are choosing artisanal produce over mass-produced rubbish. It’s our job, as craft producers, to continue this trend by educating our customers and increasing awareness.”

Mr Lloyd trained as an apprentice chef at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel and Spa, after which he moved to Australia to work for celebrity chef Kylie Kwong.
