LEGAL & General has appointed a director from automtive engineering brand Rolls-Royce to lead its new modular housing business.
Rosie Toogood, who is currently business development director for Rolls-Royce’s civil aerospace business, will become chief executive of the division later this month.
Legal & General announced plans for a modular housing business last year when it revealed it had earmarked a site near Sherburn in Elmet where up to 3,500 prefabricated homes will be built each year, employing several hundred workers.
Nigel Wilson, chief executive of L&G, said: “Rosie is joining the business at an exceptionally exciting time.
“Just as the car industry was automated, so the UK’s traditional house building sector now needs to step up.
“We need to build houses faster and more efficiently than ever before. Rosie has a mandate to deliver this. “
