Andrew Jackson Solicitors has strengthened its growing family law team with the promotion of Claire Ward to associate.

A York hotel has appointed a new reservation and events coordinator as it embarks on a further £3 million programme of expansion and improvements.

Dan Edwards has joined the four-star Monkbar Hotel - soon to become the city’s first DoubleTree by Hilton – to the position, as the establishment increases its number of bedrooms to 140 and adds a fitness suite.

Mr Edwards began his career working as a retail assistant at York’s Betty’s Café Tea Rooms, where he worked for five years. He also held roles at Calder Conferences and Hazelwood Castle.

Hotel manager Graham Usher said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Dan to the team during what has to be one of the most exciting phases in our 27 year history.

Rachel McDermott has been appointed by workplace interiors specialist Ben Johnson Interiors as business development and events manager.

Based in York and Newcastle, the new post reflects Ben Johnson’s growing profile within business and commercial property circles all over the UK, and particularly in the North.

Miss McDermott, the daughter of Liverpool footballing legend Terry McDermott, held a similar role with the Entrepreneurs Forum in the North East for nearly 10 years.
