A COMPANY has presented a defibrillator to a nursery in a village near York.

Elvington Plant Hire has provided the new AED defibrillator to Little Green Rascals Nursery at Elvington.

The move follows the nursery’s nativity play last December, when it was raising money to install one of the lifesaving devices at the nursery to serve the wider community in the event of an emergency.

The directors of Elvington Plant Hire decided to help and subsequently donated the whole package, with the assistance of First Aid training provider, Colin Skelton of Skelton Training, who is also based in Elvington and is a local first responder.

A spokesman for Elvington Plant Hire said: “We always take great pride in supporting the local community and it’s great to be able to provide life saving equipment in such a key place in the local area.

“We just hope that it never needs to be used.”

The company also donated a defibrillator to be installed on one of its other business properties in James Street, making it available for the many businesses and the public in that area.

“We recently had a number of staff trained by Skelton Training and the course also covered use of AEDs, and we are keen to spread the word how easy it is to use the Defibrillator in the case of an emergency,” the spokesman said.
