A BREWERY in North Yorkshire has won three medals at a major brewing event.

Knaresborough-based Rooster’s Brewing Co. scored the hat-trick at the 2017 International Brewing Awards, which are held every two years and judged by experienced brewers from around the world.

The family-owned brewery’s Baby-Faced Assassin won a gold medal in can, ahead of entries from breweries in Australia and Canada. The keg version took bronze, and the company’s pale ale, Yankee - the first of its kind to be brewed with new world hops from the USA more than 20 years ago - was awarded a silver in its category in keg.

Head brewer Oliver Fozard said: “I’m incredibly proud of our team. To win the bronze medal two years ago was a real honour, but to come away with three this time around is an exceptional achievement, especially given the calibre of the judging panel and the competitionwe faced.”

The brewers will collect the medals at a formal ceremony at London’s Guild Hall next month.
