A NEW hardware shop in York is opening, with the creation of 13 jobs.

Screwfix will open its second shop in York at Geralds Court in James Street on Thursday, March 16.

The store offers a Click and Collect service in as little as one minute of ordering online, which the business said would appeal to local tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts.

Keith Mawer, manager, said he was proud of the contribution the new store has made to employment figures in the area.

He said: “Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service.

"Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening.

“My team and I have already been out and about getting to know local businesses and tradesmen and we’ve been really pleased with how supportive everybody has been.”
