A NORTH Yorkshire hotel which boasts the title of one of England’s oldest coaching inns is to undergo a £1 million refurbishment programme.

The Golden Fleece, in Thirsk, will close for 11 weeks from March 6 as it undergoes the work, which includes an overhaul of its restaurant, bar and accommodation.

The move comes after the property was acquired by the Coaching Inn Group in 2015, becoming part of its 13-strong portfolio of historic venues across the UK.

Hotel manager, Neil Doogan, said: “As a much loved, iconic local landmark, we wanted to maximise our prime location.

York Press:

“The next 11 weeks will see major work conducted on the property to breathe a new lease of life into the historic coaching inn, whilst maintaining its Tudor architecture

“The plans look fantastic and we’re very excited to be introducing our new eatery and coffee house concept.”

The Golden Fleece will launch a recruitment drive in April to appoint new staff members.
