YORK developer S Harrison has enjoyed its best financial year since 2007, with its annual profit growing by more than 40 per cent in 2016.
The privately-owned company, which was founded in 1952 and is based at The Chocolate Works on the former Terry’s factory site, is set to report pre-tax profits of £4 million in the year to December 31, 2016.
That is up from £2.8million, on a turnover of £28 million, which itself had soared from £18 million, said a spokesman.
He said highlights of 2016 included completing and selling two major student accommodation schemes and selling the majority of apartments at Hunter House, a Grade II-listed building in Goodramgate.
Work also started last year on a number of high-profile new developments, including a 115 bedroom student accommodation scheme in Lawrence Street.
Managing director Ann Scott said: “We had a very productive 2016.”
