TWO friends from university who went on to acquire 30 years of combined legal experience have joined forces to create York’s newest law firm.

Tiggy Clifford and Emma Whiting officially launched Torque Law with an event at Pairings Wine Bar.

Based at Westminster Business Park, in Nether Poppleton, the firm specialises in employment law, and was set up by the duo who say they saw a “growing demand” from small business in Yorkshire for employment law advice and training without the big firm fees.

Mrs Clifford said: “Having been friends and housemates at the University of Leeds, we decided that the timing was right to combine our 30-plus years of experience of helping business owners to untangle employment issues.”

The launch event was attended by more than 60 clients and contacts and marked Torque Law’s sixth month of trading, in which time it has secured mandates from the likes of Sirius Minerals plc, Beverley Building Society, York College and Washington Inventory Services Limited.
