FIRST time buyers are being urged to become more familiar with the process of buying a home.
Over next two weeks, until February 26, First Time Buyer fortnight aims to inspire and empower people to own their first home.
However, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors says many first time buyers do not know enough about the core buying matters. These include how much deposit is needed, the mortgage process - including the strict lending requirements - what financial support is available and where.
Jon Charters-Reid, of Charters-Reid Surveyors Ltd, said: βItβs worth noting that mortgages are now available again up to 95 per cent loan to value (LTV) and the most popular for first time buyers is a 30 year term rather than the historical 25.β
