A NATIONAL waste management company is expanding and hoping to create 30 new jobs having taken on a five-year lease on fresh premises in York.

BusinessWaste.co.uk already had a base in the city, but they have moved to new office accommodation.

Launched by managing director David Adams 18 months ago, the company has relocated from its Leeman Road site across the city centre to Artemis House at Heworth Green.

The firm specialises in working with companies and organisations to save money on waste collection, disposal and recycling services.

Mr Adams said: “We’ve grown rapidly and now employ 40 staff with a turnover of more than £3 million.

“Artemis House provides us with good quality, modern facilities with room for growth.

“We are looking to further expand in 2017 – we’re aiming to employ another 30 staff and are targeting turnover of £7 million.”

Langleys Solicitors, which has offices at Queens House in Micklegate, acted for BusinessWaste.co.uk on securing the five-year lease which sees the consultancy occupying the ground floor of the property on Eboracum Way.

BusinessWaste.co.uk has clients across the UK, from small businesses to large organisations.

It uses independent and local authority providers to help businesses manage their commercial waste and recycling collections.

Tim Cross, head of commercial property at Langleys, said: “BusinessWaste.co.uk is proving to be a very successful business in a short space of time.

“We are pleased to have supported David and his team in the relocation to Artemis House as the company seeks to realise its growth ambitions.”

The Press reported in 2015 how up to 30 new jobs were created when York vehicle hire company Autohorn acquired BusinessWaste.co.uk, when the business relocated to purpose build premises in Leeman Road.

As part of its expansion at the time Business Waste recruited Mr Adams as its new managing director and shareholder.

Mr Adams joined the business from Veolia and Green Star.

The Heworth Green development is located on the north-eastern fringe of York city centre, off Malton Road and the new James Street Link Road which connects to Lawrence Street.
