A YORK-BASED national retail group has made sure colleagues stay connected by introducing the latest mobile technology.

Costcutter Supermarkets Group, which supports more than 2,600 independent retailers, has introduced a mobile device management solution to securely manage its devices, apps and content.

The group can now manage usage, increase security and speed up devices used by about 180 area and regional managers. The platform enables the business to remotely optimise devices, apps and data usage.

The new mobile telephony solution was implemented by Wakefield-based NGC Networks using the O2 network and MaaS 360 software from IBM.

Steven Marsden, IT project manager at Costcutter, said: “The challenge was to realise some cost savings from our mobile devices while giving us the flexibility to manage usage and implement best practice across our business.

“We wanted IBM MaaS 360 because we believe it is the best product for us.”

NGC Networks provides business telecommunications and internet or voice and data connectivity solutions to companies across the north of England.
