SAVILLS has appointed a new head of residential development sales in the north of England.

Jamie Adam has joined the firm as an associate director to set up a new sales team spanning the north-west and Yorkshire, working from Savills offices in Leeds, York and Manchester.

Mr Adam, who specialises in development consultancy and the sale and marketing of new build property, has 15 years experience in the property industry both agency and client side, mainly focused in the development and new homes sectors.

He previously worked for Lane Fox followed by Jackson-Stops & Staff in Winchester. He then moved to York to take over the running of the Jackson-Stops residential sales office, before working client side for a private equity-backed property investment and development company.

l East Yorkshire-based HMRC-handling and tax dispute specialist Independent Tax has appointed a tax investigation expert with 30 years of experience as its associate director.

John Norman, who lives at Huddersfield but will be based at the company’s headquarters at Brackenholme near Howden, brings 25 years of experience working for financial sector giants Grant Thornton UK, BDO UK and KPMG to the role, but also worked for HMRC for a number of years during the early part of his career. He’s a seasoned expert in dealing with tax and serious fraud investigations from both sides of the fence.

Gary Brothers, managing partner of Independent Tax, said: “This is the most senior role within the team and we’re very excited about John joining us.”

l Two new appointments have been made by overseas trade specialist, Chamber International, to deliver its growing range of services.

Lucy Jones, a former senior export administrator with a West Yorkshire textile company, joins as export-import services co-ordinator, matching the needs of businesses to Chamber International’s wide range of assistance, and university graduate, Sam Paley has been appointed an international trade administrator.

Before working at Abraham Moon & Sons Ltd, Guiseley, where she managed very large national and international accounts, Ms Jones worked in France as owner manager of her own business importing British luxury goods for the retail sector and speaks fluent French.

Mr Paley previously worked in retail. He will be responsible for a wide range of administrative support to the trade procedures team which supports businesses involved in trade worldwide.
