A LAW firm whose offices in York’s Piccadilly were devastated by flooding one year ago has re-opened with a new look - and much better equipped to deal with any repeat of the disaster.

Lupton Fawcett’s computers were rendered useless and filing cabinets were left under water after the River Foss burst its banks on Boxing Day last year.

Although the data on the computers was backed up, the documents had to be sanitised, dried out and stabilised, said a spokesman.

“To ensure this does not happen again, all the departments have now been moved upstairs and a newly designed client services suite, which includes an employee engagement area, is now on the ground floor.”

Head of operations at Lupton Fawcett, Kathryn Sykes, said: “We would be tempting fate to return computers and filing cabinets to the ground floor, hence the reason to use it for meetings and meet and greet.

“The end result is fantastic as it provides an ultra-modern feel to the office we can be proud of.”
