ABOUT £13 million in funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is being made available for investment to create jobs and boost economic growth in York and North and East Yorkshire.

The announcement follows the announcement made in October that the Government will guarantee structural and investment funding for projects that are contracted before the UK leaves the EU.

The funding, which can be accessed through the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership, is available for schemes in:

l coastal flood management

l blue/green infrastructure development

l supporting organisations to lower their carbon emissions

l decarbonising the food chain.

Colin Mellors, chair of the partnership’s European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) Committee, said: “We are pleased that the Government has confirmed that all ESIF-funded projects that are contracted before we leave the EU will be funded for the duration of the project.

“This gives important assurance to organisations considering applying for the £13 million that remains to promote innovation and support businesses across York, North Yorkshire and East Riding.

“The funding committed so far is already making a positive contribution to growth in our area and the new calls will provide vital investment to help protect businesses at risk from flood, improve infrastructure, and enable our businesses to reduce their carbon footprint.”

The £13 million is part of the enterprise partnership’s overall £85 million ESIF programme.

The organisation is working in collaboration with neighbouring Humber and Greater Lincolnshire local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) in issuing joint calls for activity.

Details relating to all of the funding available are published on the enterprise partnership’s funding pages.

Anyone interested in further information or applying for funding should also visit the ESIF Technical Assistance Partnership at esiftap.org, where they can register for updates.

Further details can also be found there about a series of workshops taking place in January, which the enterprise partnership is recommending those who are interested to attend.

The closing date for applications is April 30, 2017.
