THE success of a recent exhibition featuring IT security at York’s National Railway Museum has prompted the hosts, Boston Spa-based Deans Computer Services (DCS), to launch a cyber safety workshop early next year.

Featuring 21 exhibitors and guest presentations by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Cyber Crime Unit, the Autumn Showcase event was well attended by companies seeking advice on protection against increasing and evolving online threats.

Many expressed interest in a proposed workshop, and in February DCS will be providing a dedicated session with its team of in-house experts as well as input from the Police Cybercrime Unit and ESET, specialists in anti-virus and data encryption services.

Managing director Patrick Clayton said the workshop would be free to attend and they hoped to announce a date and venue in the new year.
