AN INVESTMENT conference in North Yorkshire heard about the likely impact of the US presidential election and the Brexit vote.

Leading fund research and ratings group RSMR hosted its third annual investment conference at Rudding Park, Harrogate, with 200 people attending from the advisory and fund group sectors.

Nicolo Carpaneda, from M&G Investments, highlighting key impacts on global fixed-income markets in store following Donald Trump’s election win, which included looser fiscal policy, Latin American protectionism and a more isolationist US.

Alastair Mundy, from Investec Asset Management, examined the signs pointing to a rise in inflation, and suggested investing in precious metals and Norwegian Krone as a counterbalance.

Matthew Dobbs, from Schroders, focused on the Asian markets, pointing to the more open mindset of the Chinese over adopting new technology compared with the US.
