A YORK communications specialist is to play a vital role in ensuring in ensuring the British media provides the best possible coverage of the most divisive US presidential election of recent times.

Mobile phone coverage expert Cellhire plc is to provide hundreds of 3G and 4G voice-video and data connections to British media organisations covering the US elections on November 8, providing the vital service for the House of Representatives and Senate votes as well as the face-off at the polls between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

The connections will be made possible through Cellhire’s SIM cards, smartphones, MiFi devices - portable, highly secure wireless routers - and other value-added telecoms and services.

These have made the company a name for itself by providing many thousands of connections during FIFA World Cups, Olympics and Paralympics, UEFA Euro Finals and the Cannes Film Festival.

“Our equipment and services will be used across the US at election hotspots up to, during and after the results, including the victory speech by the president-elect,” said Cellhire UK’s managing director, Matt Bennett. “They will ensure that British media have reliable voice, video and data communications links to the UK and elsewhere, enabling them to file their reports whenever they wish, including during live broadcasts, 24/7.”

Mr Bennett added: “Cellhire is pleased to be the provider of technical product and expertise to help media reporting of three crucial elections in the United States on the same day.

“It’s not a major technical challenge for us because of the experience we have gained in supplying equipment and working smoothly with 3G and 4G network providers at major events around the world.”
