CARTER Jonas has appointed Simon Grundy as head of planning – north.

Based in Yorkshire, he will bolster and expand the planning expertise that Carter Jonas provides to clients across the region and work closely with his colleagues in the development consultancy practice.

Mr Grundy has nearly 30 years’ experience in planning and has worked on a number of high-profile projects for clients including the University of Leeds and Threadneedle.

Mr Grundy said: “I am looking forward to guiding a highly successful team of planning experts based in Yorkshire and identifying opportunities to further expand our remit all the way down to the East Midlands.”

l An innovative UK engineering firm has strengthened its position in the US with a key sales appointment at its sister company, data centre cooling specialist QCooling.

Co-founded by Simon Davis, a director of York and Hampshire cooling specialist Aqua Cooling, Texas-based QCooling uses award-winning British technology to provide bespoke, game-changing cooling systems in the US and to international clients.

Paul Surdykowski has joined the engineering company as director of sales US after more than 17 years in the mechanical and electrical data centre industry.

He will be responsible for creating new partnerships for the distribution of QCooling’s patented no-leak cooling systems, as well as finding new business opportunities and looking after overall sales in the US.

l Barratt Developments Yorkshire East has made a number of promotions within its commercial department.

Based at the division’s head office in York, the five appointments will be working closely together to deliver high-quality homes across the Yorkshire East region

Richard Thompson, Dan Boyle and Andreas Symeonides have all been promoted to be quantity surveyors, following previous roles as assistant quantity surveyors

Brian Stebbings, who has also been promoted, has taken up a new role as buyer, following his previous role as assistant buyer at Barratt, while Ben Plews is progressing in his role as a commercial trainee as he begins his studies in quantity surveying.
