A LONG-ESTABLISHED law firm with an office in York held a “coming of age” celebration to mark its 121st anniversary.

Lupton Fawcett, which also has offices in Leeds and Sheffield, used the event to pay tribute to its rich heritage and look forward to a bright future.

Richard Marshall, managing director, said: “A lot has changed since Messrs Lupton and Fawcett founded the firm in the 1890s – not least the proliferation of laws with ever increasing complexity.

“It is notable, for example, that there are 56 words in The Lord’s Prayer, 297 in the Ten Commandments, 1,300 in the American Declaration of Independence, and 27,000 words in a European Directive on duck eggs.

“There have, of course, been many other changes during the last 121 years, but through that time there have been three golden threads that have remained constant at Lupton Fawcett – professionalism, client focus and our commitment to this region and our community.

“We are now in a stronger position than ever before. We have a team of 280 committed lawyers working in the three regional capitals of Leeds, Sheffield and York – this is unique to us and gives us an edge in delivering the kind of service our founding fathers strove to deliver all those years ago.”
