A YORK development company has submitted plans to build a student accommodation scheme close to Leeds city centre.
The new development proposed by S Harrison would replace a predominantly vacant, existing office building on Blenheim Walk, which sits between Leeds College of Art and Leeds Student Medical Practice.
The scheme’s 209 en-suite bedrooms would be spread across 32 cluster apartments that would have access to a large, shared kitchen, living and dining spaces to promote inclusivity.
The development would also offer a range of communal facilities including a reception area, study rooms, games area and common room. Externally there is a large, green courtyard area, and cycle parking.
Gavin Douglas, design manager from S Harrison, said: “This scheme has been carefully designed to create a high-quality development which reflects its location, and the heritage that surrounds it.”
S Harrison has considerable experience delivering student accommodation schemes after completing three developments in its home city of York in recent years, totalling 762 beds. Last month it gained approval for a 106-bedroom scheme in the Walmgate Conservation area.
