A GROUP which represents the professional sector in York aims to work with its members and partners to help attract a major firm to invest in the city.

Marking the end of her first year as chair of York Professionals, Anne Taylor, pictured, owner of See Green, set out the group’s ambitions for the year to come at its annual general meeting, held in City of York Council’s West Offices.

She said: “Over the past year we’ve worked closely with the City of York Council in market engagement around procurement and with Make It York to launch the Business Flood Recovery Fund, which was unveiled at our annual dinner and which has raised vital funds for businesses in the city.

“One of our challenges for coming years is to work with these strategic partners and with our membership to encourage the next ‘Hiscox’ to invest in the city.

“We’ll continue to promote the professional services sector – which is a key part of the city’s economic plan and to promote York as a great place to do business.”

The York Professionals vision is for the city to be recognised as a world-leading centre for international business and enterprise.

The group has flourished with the strong support of the dedicated and enthusiastic board of directors, who have supported Mrs Taylor in strengthening the vision to champion enterprise and drive economic growth in the city.

With membership continuing to grow and strong engagement with the city’s key strategic partners such as the City of York Council and Make It York, York Professionals has been a successful conduit between businesses in the city and city-wide opportunities available.
