THE company which owns the Royal York Hotel is to appear in the 12th annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table, which ranks Britain’s private mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales.

Among 26 companies headquartered in Yorkshire to make the list, being published this weekend, is Principal Hotels, based in Harrogate, which comes in at 42 in the table compared with 76 last year.

Also featured is commercial gas supplier CNG, also based in Harrogate, in at 76 compared with 113 last year.

Andy Wood, partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, , praised the companies for their performance.

He said: “In the wake of the EU referendum it is more important than ever that businesses, and the public and the third sectors work together to help the UK to build on its strengths and ensure that the economy continues to grow.”
