THE world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis, has handed Tony Conroy a global sales remit.

Mr Conroy, who joined the Rillington-based company in 2001, was appointed export sales director in 2012, and has now been promoted to the newly created role of global sales director.

Managing director Richard Shaw said: “Tony has been an enormous asset to Ellis since the moment he first walked through the door and it’s been his work, as much as anyone else’s that has seen Ellis rise from a company with export ambitions to one with a truly global reach and a reputation to match.”

Ellis’ export operation now represents over 50 per cent of the company’s £7 million annual turnover and sees Tony and his team manage a network of distributors in more than 30 different countries. Already in 2016, the company has added new distributors in Canada, Japan, Romania, South Africa and the United States, and secured first time orders from Colombia, Costa Rica and Peru.

Mr Conroy said: “The main reason for our continued success, both in terms of UK and export sales, is that Ellis cable cleats are tried, tested and trusted the world over.

“We are the experts in the market, and the calibre of our customers is unrivalled – and it’s not just simple sales requests we receive.

“We have huge organisations asking us to solve installation problems for them by designing new solutions that meet project specific demands. It is this ability and this reputation that makes opening doors in new markets, whether it be export or industry, that little bit easier.”
