IT’S a time for people to inspire, grow and celebrate.

York Business Week is set to brighten up the darkening days of November with a series of enlightening events - and the organisers are keen for others to join in.

Running from November 14 to 18, it will bring together local businesses and higher education partners with a range of informative and thought-provoking events and networking to enhance the business opportunities available within the city

Key highlights will include a ‘Supernetworking’ event on Monday, November 14, at the Novotel; Venturefest Yorkshire on Wednesday, November 16, at York Racecourse; and The Press Business Awards, also at the racecourse on Thursday, November 17.

More events are being added all the time, and people are being encouraged to run their own happenings and register them as part of the week.

The week is suitable for employees, employers, business start-ups and students. This year promises to be better than ever with the support of Make it York, which is organising the relaunched Venturefest.

Owen Turner, of United by Design and a member of the York Business Week steering group, said: “It’s a great week to have within the business community.”

He said it was important for the larger organisations to interact with those they did not normally have contact with, and the week was also very useful for people starting out and making their way in the business community.

“There is so much energy in the city and I think for the business community it’s a chance to really get out and about and see what’s happening,” he said.

Others collaborating in organising the week include Anne Taylor (See Green), Claire Newhouse (Higher York), Charles Storr (Make it York), Emma Smailes (The Federation of Small Businesses) and Jo Pickering (York Professionals).
