A YORK-BASED firm has launched a new UK-wide property consultancy.

Surface Property, a new multi-disciplinary environment and design consultancy specialising in the built environment, is the brainchild of Arcus Consultancy Services Ltd, which played an important role in the renovation of the Terry’s chocolate factory.

The new property brand builds on ten years of success for Arcus working in the energy and renewables sectors. Surface will bring a particular focus to the planning and property sector.

Surface will operate from city-centre offices in York, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and has a team of more than 50 staff, providing a wide range of services across a breadth of specialisms from acoustics and affordable housing, to urban design and planning.

Greg Shillabeer, director of Surface, said: “Since launching Arcus ten years ago, we’ve grown rapidly and have worked with all major developers in the UK in terms of renewable energy.

“We’re using this experience to work more closely with property developers and, especially within the housing sector, we understand the current issues they face and we want to help build the new homes that the country needs.

“We’ve achieved the highest planning success rate in renewables when compared to our competitors – there’s no reason why we can’t achieve the same level of success in the property sector.

“The new brand, Surface, will capitalise on our expertise in this area, and we intend to continue growing our offer through a range of specialist property services that will assist across the whole life cycle of a development.”
