A YORK software company is celebrating a massive rise in revenue and launching the biggest product update in its history.

RotaCloud, which is based at York Science Park, has experienced a period of rapid growth, with client numbers more than doubling in the past seven months and revenue is up by 312 per cent this year.

The tech company’s employee scheduling software is used by hundreds of business across the UK and around the world to simplify rota management.

Co-founders Joel Beverley, James Lintern and David Brandon built the business from the ground up, having contended with chaotic rota management at previous employers.

They started the business as a part-time project in 2013, launching the software the following year.

The RotaCloud team made the move from working remotely to their first office at the Innovation Centre at York Science Park earlier in the year.

They are already looking at options to expand their office space at the science park, because they plan to recruit local talent as the company releases its largest feature update in its two-and-a-half-year history.

“The time and attendance package allows our clients to check scheduled working hours against actual working hours, allowing for accurate payroll and absence data,” Mr Beverley said.

“Employees can clock in and out through their smartphones or company terminals, with the time data automatically fed through to the system.

“It’s all about cutting admin work for managers, freeing time for more important business tasks.”

A host of new features are planned for the remainder of 2016 and beyond.

“The next steps for us are to continue growing our team and reach new markets in the UK and further afield,” Mr Lintern said. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive feedback RotaCloud has received, and we’re excited to see what the future brings.”

Tracey Smith, the chief executive of York Science Park, said: “RotaCloud has exciting times ahead with further growth projections and its new feature update.

“We were delighted to welcome the RotaCloud team to the Science Park in June and look forward to supporting its expansion in the future.”
