A WINDOWS and doors specialist “which has more than served its apprenticeship through ten years of hard work by all involved” is aiming for success in the Large Business and Achievement Through People categories of The Press Business Awards.

Quickslide, which has a showroom in Redeness Street, York, is in its sixth consecutive year of growth, which has been achieved through investment in equipment and technology and also by developing its people and “empowering them to achieve more”.

It says: “Almost everyone who started with the business is still with the business. This speaks volumes about the way the business is run, honestly, self-effacing, constantly willing to learn and also with great passion.”

The company says: “We firmly believe we lead the field in the introduction of lean manufacturing and our systems, people and procedures are heading quickly toward world-class standards.

“At Quickslide, we have truly realised, and really believe, that our employees really are what makes the difference between a good business and a great business.”

Its “company-wide succession planning, training and development programme has delivered a seismic shift towards achieving world-class standards in every area of the business”.

Members of its team have completed a variety of courses in areas ranging from behaviour to lean manufacturing.

“We have a unique business that constantly challenges us to do more, to ensure we achieve this we have a system and culture that drives us to pursue perfection.

“That system is lean manufacturing through continuous improvement. We are a good business that is becoming great.”
