AN ENTERPRISE that offers people a new way to discover, learn and make creative connections through short fiction, opinion and personal insight has entered the Technology and New Business of the Year categories for The Press Business Awards.

With quality moderated content on offer every month, daCunha gives subscribing members access to a creative portal for new fiction, ideas, global conversations, cultural and business insight.

“Our breadth of vision includes audio, video, music and pictures. daCunha also seeks to pay the creators of quality content through a business model that puts the artist or creator first.

“Our brains like non-linear learning, hence, every visitor’s journey of discovery on daCunha is different. The connections they make unique, as they experience thoughtful, human-scale creative learning.

“We strip away all notifications, feeds, adverts, algorithms and recommendations to allow users to let their curiosity and interest give them a slower, more immersive experience at their own pace.”

Launched in May, daCunha is a global initiative originating from Yorkshire, with creative teams working out of the UK, Europe, the US and Canada to create a vibrant and cohesive online space.

Its submissions are coming in from Europe, North and South America, Japan and Australia and the full website is being translated into Spanish to open it up to the third most used language on the internet.

The company aims to use all digital tools to build, operate, and grow its operation, using the full range of social media platforms.

“We are doing all this for pennies by leveraging as much open source and digital power as we can and focusing on quality of approach and content without fundraising or venture capital.”

Its founders and producers are entrepreneur Todd Hannula, who has focused on building brick and mortar businesses with social impact, and graphic designer Ned Hoste, who has been in publishing and international book design for over 30 years.
