A SELBY apprentice had the opportunity to learn from a master when Redrow chairman Steve Morgan stopped off to see them during a whistle-stop tour of Yorkshire.

Mr Morgan was keen to hear first-hand how Redrow apprentices are finding their experience.

Josh Hulls, 19, from Selby, who is just completing his first year as a joinery apprentice, was delighted to meet ‘the boss’.

He said: “It was great to have the opportunity to meet him face to face as he is an inspiration. He’s an example of how you can start from the bottom and work your way up.

“I have had a brilliant first year as an apprentice learning the ropes and I’d eventually like to go into management. Since I started with Redrow last year I have had so much encouragement. I’ve passed my NVQ level 3 and hope to go on to level 4.

“My apprenticeship is not only giving me the skills I need, but has also helped me to believe anything’s possible.”

Redrow is set to take on a record 100 trade apprentices this year as it continues to expand its business, including nine across the Yorkshire division.

“As a business we are committed to nurturing young talent and to providing practical opportunities for learning key trades and skills,” said Mr Morgan.
