A NORTH Yorkshire manufacturer which already dominates its UK market has set its sights on expanding into Europe.

Langver supplies curtainsider ratchet tensioners, which are used to help secure loads for curtainsider trailers, to 90 per cent of the UK market.

Based at Thirsk Industrial Park, it was the subject of a management buyout in 2005. It has since seen its staff numbers rise to 26 and turnover increase from £1.6 million to an expected £2.5 million in 2016.

The company, which provides bespoke design and precision engineering to its clients, has announced plans to expand its portfolio into Europe, having firmly established itself as the market leader in the UK.

The decision was made before the EU referendum decision, but the company is pressing ahead with its growth plans.

Scott Taylor, who jointly owns the business with Claire Matten, said: “We are regarded as the leading manufacturer of curtainsider ratchet tensioners in the UK and have also been successful in securing clients in Europe and Canada.

“However, the European market is massive and we’ve only really touched the tip of the iceberg, so with a bit of a marketing push we could really establish the Langver brand over there.

“We’ve set ourselves some ambitious targets, having seen our business grow year on year since Claire and I undertook the management buyout, and our expansion into the continental market is a natural step for us.”

The company’s ethos is on manufacturing products which have been specifically designed to fit each client’s requirements. The ratchet tensioners, which are found on all four corners of the curtainsider trailer, are manufactured from the best material available using the latest technology and a highly skilled workforce.

Langver’s workforce has doubled in the past 24 months, and there are plans to recruit further during 2016 and 2017 as the growth plans are implemented.

The company is also committed to offering apprenticeship opportunities to the right people.co.u and has been recognised for its commitment to investing in the next generation of workers, having won the Learning and Development category at the Hambleton Business Awards 2016.
