THE York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has outlined its major successes and investment delivered in the region.
The economy of York, North Yorkshire and the East Riding has grown by £1.4 billion, creating more than 21,900 new jobs since the launch of the LEP’s strategic economic plan in April 2014.
With house building increasing by 71per cent since 2014, the region is well on track to deliver its ambitious targets, the LEP’s annual general meeting was told last week.
Chair Barry Dodd said: “Having negotiated a £122 million Growth Deal from Government last year, we needed to demonstrate we could deliver on our promises, and I am very proud to say that we did.
“Not only did we deliver our target £30 million investment, we also backed our partners, helping Fera Science secure £50 million investment for two agri-tech centres of excellence whilst supporting York Potash mine to achieve planning permission for the largest private sector investment in the Northern Powerhouse.”
