A TOTAL of £1,220 was raised for the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People at the 2016 LABC North and East Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards .

The winner of £610 from a raffle on the night, Dylan Gelder of Keepmoat Ltd, donated his win back to the charity to make the final figure.

Jean Todd, from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said: “This amazing support will help us to continue to create our life-changing partnerships.”

The awards included: Best extension or alteration to an existing home – Brook Cottage, Grosmont; Best refurbishment or extension of a Listed Building (Regional award) – Talbot Yard, Malton; Best individual new home – York Road, Haxby; Best small new housing development (ten units or less) – The Villa, Belgrave Crescent, Scarborough; Best public service building – Stanbrook Abbey, Wass; Best educational building – Askham Bryan College, York; Best commercial building/scheme – Barkers Furniture Store, Northallerton.
