A YORK student
has become the first intern software tester at a firm in the north-east.
Jade Elliott, 20, is studying maths and is in her second year at the University of York .
She has become an intern at the Newcastle office of bespoke software development consultancy Scott Logic.
Ms Elliott, from Newcastle, took part in the British Science Association CREST Scheme where she worked to solve a real-life problem to reduce costs for Rolls Royce.
She said: “I’m hoping to learn a lot about software and gain real experience of the working world while I’m still studying.”
She is one of seven undergraduate students to benefit from one of Scott Logic’s paid internships, after recruiters sifted through almost 80 applications. She will be based in the city centre office at St James’ Gate for the duration of the summer.
