A YORK accountancy firm and one of the city's developers have team up 30 years after they first worked together on a joint venture.

Garbutt + Elliott and The Helmsley Group originally joined forces back in the early 1980s, when they were both involved in the setting up of the pensions and investment company London York Fund Managers Limited.

Jeremy Oliver, partner with Garbutt +Elliott’s property services team, said: "We are absolutely delighted that the Helmsley Group has chosen us as their new accountants and advisors.

"Apart from our shared history, there is a synergy between the two firms which bodes extremely well for the future.

"We share the same values, have a great love of, and commitment, to Yorkshire and are based very close to each other in Monk’s Cross."

Ian McAndrew, director at the Helmsley Group, said: "We chose Garbutt + Elliott not only because of their proven expertise, but also because their values and ethos are so similar to ours.

"They are also literally on hand when we need them as we are based just minutes from their York office. Their flexible and hands-on approach enables the work to be achieved quickly and efficiently."

Working predominantly with growing and entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses based throughout Yorkshire, Garbutt + Elliott, which has offices in York and Leeds, operating across a range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, food, brewing, creative arts, digital media, property, construction, horseracing, charities and not-for-profit.
