YORK-based accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott has appointed two of its tax specialists to head up the firm’s Personal Tax and Business Tax specialisms.

Richard Whitelock and Rob Durrant-Walker have been appointed from within to lead the firm’s tax teams.

Mr Whitelock will become head of private clients’ tax while Mr Durrant-Walker will be head of business tax.

Mr Whitelock has worked with Garbutt + Elliott for more than 18 years, and has been a chartered tax advisor for 16 years, while Mr Durrant-Walker has more than 24 years’ tax experience.

Garbutt + Elliott employs 104 people, including nine partners.

CHARITY focused health and fitness expert Richard Vanson has been appointed as Nuffield Health York Hospital’s new sales and services manager.

Mr Vanson, who brings more than six years’ experience working for Nuffield Health and Wellbeing to the role, joins from Let’s Get Healthy in Leeds where he co-ordinated and managed health leaders to deliver physical and mental health improvement projects.

As sales and services Manager for the not-for-profit private hospital, Mr Vanson will focus on leading the sales and customer service teams as well as building community awareness around the services, facilities and expertise that the hospital offers.

He started his career with Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing in Harrogate in 2008 as its senior wellbeing adviser, before progressing to health, wellbeing and clinical manager in 2010.

The Harrogate office of specialist geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultancy CGL has announced the appointment of Owen Flowers as engineer.

After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering, Mr Flowers undertook a Masters at Glasgow University which he recently completed with a Distinction.

In between his degrees Mr Flowers gained engineering experience in the utilities sector working for Balfour Beatty which led to a desire for an engineering career.
